Gifted

In a world where psychic ability defines social position, one resilient, determined girl will confront
social inequity, internalized anxiety, and family trauma to defend her right to choose her future.

If everyone said you can't, would you still try?

Sixteen-year-old Alima Edevani shouldn’t be fascinated by the Gifts.  Like all Middlings, she wasn’t born with one of the five psychic abilities.  But when she discovers a way to learn the Movement Gift (telekinesis) she will challenge her community’s segregated education system for the right to choose her future.  As news of her efforts spreads, the growing pressure threatens to break her relationships with her family and her budding romance with a Middling boy.  Alima must ultimately decide if her dream of becoming Gifted is worth fracturing her community and hurting the people she loves.

GIFTED is a contemporary YA Fantasy for fans of THE WILL OF THE MANY (James Islington), POWERLESS (Lauren Roberts), and A MAGIC STEEPED IN POISON (Judy Lin).  The magical realism in GIFTED symbolizes current disparities in education while exploring themes around family, friendship and first love, the consequences of choices, individuals vs. society, and the struggles teens face as they seek their own unique identities.
